ISRO’s Mars Orbiter Mission: Five important results from a thousand days of scientific observations

ISRO’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), also known as Mangalyaan completed 1,000 Earth days in orbit around the red planet on 19 June, 2017. The planned mission duration was only 6 months, but the low cost mission continues to make observations. There is about 13 kg of propellant left. ISRO’s Mars Orbiter Mission completes 1000 days in orbit, continues observing the red planet

On June 19, 2017 the Mars Orbiter Mission (MoM) has completed 1,000 Earth days, or 973.24 Mars Sols — Martian Solar Days, in orbit around the red planet. MoM has completed 388 orbits, and continues to take observations that has lead to the publication of several scientific research papers. The original planned mission duration was only six months.
